FULFILMENT OF THE LAW AND SABBATH

FULFILMENT OF THE LAW AND THE SABBATH.

Joseph Vella. 29/09/2022.

THE LAW AND THE SABBATH DAY - BEFORE JESUS' DEATH.
(Jesus ministered under the Old Covenant).

Matthew 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

Matthew 12:8 For the Son of man is "Lord" (Lord is, supreme in authority) even of the sabbath day.

Mark 2:27-28 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Mark 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is "Lord" (Lord is, supreme in authority) also of the sabbath.

Luke 6:5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is "Lord" also of the sabbath.

John 7:22-24 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.

John 7:23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

John 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

THE LAW AND THE SABBATH DAY - AFTER JESUS' DEATH. The New Covenant.

Colossians 2:10-15 And ye are "complete in him", which is the head of all principality and power:

Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the "circumcision made without hands", in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

NOTE; Ordinances is G1378 dogma. From the base of G1380; a law (civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical): - decree, ordinance.

Colossians 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

LET NO ONE DISQUALIFY YOU.

Colossians 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:                                                                                                Colossians 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Colossians 2:20-22 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to "ordinances",

Ordinances is From G1378; to submit to ceremonial rule: - be subject to ordinances.) Dictionary says; authoritative order: edict · decree · law · injunction · fiat · command · order · rule.

Colossians 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;                                                                                Colossians 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

READ ALL: Colossians 2:6-23.

WE ARE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.

Romans 3:20-31.

:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.                                                                                                                                      :21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

:29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Romans 6:14-15 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law but under grace.

Because of Grace, we are not under Law. So sin shall not dominate us.

Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW.

Galatians 3:10-14 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.  If you are under the Law then you must obey all the Law, otherwise, you are in sin.

:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Justified is From G1342; to render (that is, show or regard as) just or innocent: - free, justify (-ier), be righteous.

:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Jesus freed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us. Now we are not under Law, but Grace. Romans 8:2-3.

:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Abraham's Covenant was before the Law of Moses which came 430 years later. Abraham was free from the Law, and now we are free in Christ Jesus After the Law.

What are the Blessings of Abraham?? Look at Deuteronomy 28:1-14.

THE PROMISE OF A NEW COVENANT. Because they - Israel - continually kept breaking to Old Covenant.

Jeremiah 31:31-32 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Hebrews 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

WE ARE JUSTIFIED BY FAITH IN JESUS AND NOT BY THE LAW OF MOSES.

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

We are made right with God through faith - Faith in Jesus - not by what we have done through following the law - The Law of Moses.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death

In Christ Jesus we are set free from the Law of sin and death. That is referring to the Law of Moses.

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Jesus is the fulfilment of the Law of Moses. Only through Jesus Christ, can we be made Righteous.

My Love in Christ Jesus.
